Mission Statement

The Literacy Laboratory is a mobile literacy outreach program aimed at providing books for children and families in underserved communities and presenting engaging literacy programs to get children excited about reading.

Goals

• To cultivate readers and encourage reading
• To present literacy using fun and engaging programming
• To engage new readers through fun and engaging programming
• To get books into the hands of children
• To promote early literacy
• To share a love of reading through a variety of formats (reader’s theater, slam poetry)
• To teach literacy best practices
• Develop fun and engaging literacy activities that can be replicated elsewhere
• Instill values of service in youth and communities
